This month I’ve selected ten words that can be used to describe daring people or their actions. Not everyone encourages people to be daring, so some of these words are not flattering.
Some are beautiful. Falling in love is one of the most daring things we can do which is why I chose the Portuguese word, apaixonar. I dare you to add these ten words to your vocabulary.
1. Rantipole – (origin – English) It can be a noun, verb, or adjective. A rantipole is a wild reckless sometimes quarrelsome person. It can also be used to describe or show the actions of a person.
2. Meerithic – a noun based on the German word, mere, meaning sea. Meerithic is the strong desire to be in the water or to swim.
3. Apaixonar - verb (origin – Portuguese) To impassion or inflame. To fall in love or the act of falling in love.
4. Strikhedonia – noun (origin – Greek) The pleasure of being able to say, “To hell with it.”
5. Novaturient – adjective (origin – from the Latin word, Novus, meaning new) desiring or seeking to enact powerful change in one’s life, behavior, or situation.
6. Metanoia – noun (origin – Ancient Greek) Metanoia is a change in one’s way of life resulting from penance or spiritual conversion. A complete change of heart.
7. Soulrocker – noun (origin - unknown) A person who lives from the heart, with compassion for all, and a tenacious enthusiasm for music, life, and the environment.
8. Livsnjutare – A Swedish noun for someone who lives life deeply and to the extreme.
9. Virago – noun (origin – Latin) Virago is an interesting word. It originally referred to a female warrior. It’s meaning changed over time to describe an unpleasant, domineering, violent, or argumentative woman.
10. Profailantism – noun (origins – French and English) The art of embracing failure and using it as a learning tool or the motivation to succeed or accomplish your goals.
