April 2021 in This Awful Awesome Life
Happy April! Spring is here and the weather is getting warmer. We hope you enjoyed the March 2021 issue of This Awful Awesome Life. Many thanks to the people who contributed to the issue.
The vaccine rollout is proceeding ahead of original projections and all indications suggest it will be available to all Americans soon. I had the discussion with my personal physician about my health and he assured me I’m safe to wait until the vaccine becomes available to group 1C, so that’s what I will be doing. This means wearing a mask, copious handwashing, practicing social distancing and avoiding crowds for a bit longer, but it will be worth it.
This month we have articles about spring, healthy eating, and Earth Day. In keeping with spring and Earth day, we have an article about the importance of bees, butterflies, and birds. Orlando Bartro is back with an article about beauty and how we interpret it.
Linda Cahill has some delicious recipes from Pampered Chef to usher in springtime. This month in “The Twelve Months of Soup,” we made Vegetarian Vegetable Soup and a Vegetable Panini perfect for spring and Lent.
In memory of Beverly Cleary, we have a list of her books for kids, and for adults, we have books with a message. I reviewed The Little Book of Life Hacks by Yumi Sakugawa. Trust me you won’t want to miss my review or pass on this book.
For this month’s quiz, we have six degrees of separation between actors and movies with the name of a flower in the title. And we have some streaming suggestions to help you stay put for just a bit longer.
Samantha Sayers has been missing since she disappeared on August 1, 2018, after a day of solo hiking at Vesper Peak near Seattle, Washington. Sam was raised in the Erie, Pennsylvania area where her parents Ron and Lisa still live. Her family is exploring all avenues of inquiry to find and bring her home. In the face of such an enormous challenge, they have chosen hope. Please keep sending positive thoughts to Sam and her family. As promised, we will be displaying a yellow ribbon for Sam on the opening page of each issue of This Awful Awesome Life until she is home.
If you are a person of faith, please pray for her safe return to her family. Because we are an online publication, we can update this article with any news. We will also post information on our Facebook page. Thank you!
