July 2020 in This Awful Awesome Life

We hope you enjoyed the June 2020 edition of This Awful Awesome Life. It was a special issue that combined the final issue I worked on with Jay Speyerer and our new articles and features.

The COVID-19 pandemic is still upon us and efforts to reopen many states have caused a spike in the infection. This is a defining moment for society as we make decisions to safeguard both our citizens and our economies.

Patricia Petrusik discusses the need for communication and honest conversations about our most pressing social issues. This month, I’m taking a risk and sharing my opinion on the COVID-19 pandemic and what we all can do to create a new normal.

With travel restrictions in place for many states and countries, our backyards may become our saving grace. Find out how to make the most of your space. Don’t miss our quiz on exotic vacation spots right here in the United States. You might thank me next year.

Popular sports author Jim O’Brien is back with two articles. Orlando Bartro finds inspiration from a bee and its ability to distinguish colors we can’t see. Linda Cahill shares delicious recipes from Pampered Chef and this month in “The Twelve Months of Pie,” I made the perfect blueberry pie for any 4th of July celebration.

We have July in Pictures, reading recommendations for kids and adults, and information about upcoming books from Luke Murphy and J.J. Hensley. Also, I reviewed Til Death, the 10th book in the Zoe Chambers Mystery series by Annette Dashofy which was released June 16, 2020. Spoiler alert – I loved it!

Samantha Sayers is still missing. She disappeared on August 1, 2018, after a day of solo hiking at Vesper Peak near Seattle, Washington. Sam was raised in the Erie, Pennsylvania area where her parents Ron and Lisa still live. Her family is exploring all avenues of inquiry to find and bring her home. In the face of such an enormous challenge, they have chosen hope. Please keep sending positive thoughts to Sam and her family. As promised, we will be displaying a yellow ribbon for Sam on the opening page of each issue of This Awful Awesome Life until she is home.

If you are a person of faith, please pray for her safe return to her family. Because we are an online publication, we can update this article with any news. We will also post information on our Facebook page. Thank you!
